In this tutorial we learn how to install libcriticism-perl on Ubuntu.

What is libcriticism-perl

libcriticism-perl is:

The cristicism pragma enforces coding standards and promotes best-practices by running your file through Perl::Critic before every execution. In a production system, this usually isn’t feasible because it adds a lot of overhead at start-up. If you have a separate development environment, you can effectively bypass the “criticism” pragma by not installing Perl::Critic in the production environment. If Perl::Critic can’t be loaded, then “criticism” just fails silently.

There are three methods to install libcriticism-perl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcriticism-perl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcriticism-perl using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcriticism-perl

Install libcriticism-perl Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcriticism-perl using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcriticism-perl

Install libcriticism-perl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcriticism-perl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcriticism-perl

How To Uninstall libcriticism-perl on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libcriticism-perl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcriticism-perl

Uninstall libcriticism-perl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcriticism-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcriticism-perl

Remove libcriticism-perl Configurations and Data

To remove libcriticism-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcriticism-perl

Remove libcriticism-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcriticism-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcriticism-perl
