In this tutorial we learn how to install libcpprest-dev on Ubuntu.

The C++ REST SDK (codename “Casablanca”) is a Microsoft project for cloud-based client-server communication in native code using a modern asynchronous C++ API design. This project allows C++ developers to take advantage of the radical shift in software architecture that cloud computing represents.

This package contains header files that are needed to develop and compile applications which utilizes the C++ REST SDK / Casablanca framework.

There are three methods to install libcpprest-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcpprest-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcpprest-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcpprest-dev

Install libcpprest-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcpprest-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcpprest-dev

Install libcpprest-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcpprest-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcpprest-dev

How To Uninstall libcpprest-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libcpprest-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcpprest-dev

Uninstall libcpprest-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcpprest-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcpprest-dev

Remove libcpprest-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libcpprest-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcpprest-dev

Remove libcpprest-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcpprest-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcpprest-dev
