In this tutorial we learn how to install libcommonmark-perl on Ubuntu.

What is libcommonmark-perl

libcommonmark-perl is:

The CommonMark module is a wrapper around the official CommonMark C library libcmark. It closely follows the original API.

The main module provides some entry points to parse documents and convenience functions for node creation. The bulk of features is available through CommonMark::Node objects of which the parse tree is made. CommonMark::Iterator is a useful class to walk through the nodes in a tree. CommonMark::Parser provides a push parser interface.

There are three methods to install libcommonmark-perl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcommonmark-perl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcommonmark-perl using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcommonmark-perl

Install libcommonmark-perl Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcommonmark-perl using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcommonmark-perl

Install libcommonmark-perl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcommonmark-perl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcommonmark-perl

How To Uninstall libcommonmark-perl on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libcommonmark-perl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcommonmark-perl

Uninstall libcommonmark-perl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcommonmark-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcommonmark-perl

Remove libcommonmark-perl Configurations and Data

To remove libcommonmark-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcommonmark-perl

Remove libcommonmark-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcommonmark-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcommonmark-perl
