Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libcmis-dev on Ubuntu.

What is libcmis-dev

libcmis-dev is:

LibCMIS is a C++ client library for the CMIS interface.

This allows C++ applications to connect to any Enterprise Content Management system behaving as a CMIS server like Alfresco, Nuxeo. It also provides Access to Google Drive/OneDrive/SharePoint

This package contains the development files (headers, …) for libcmis.

There are three methods to install libcmis-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcmis-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcmis-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcmis-dev

Install libcmis-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcmis-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcmis-dev

Install libcmis-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcmis-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcmis-dev

How To Uninstall libcmis-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libcmis-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcmis-dev

Uninstall libcmis-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcmis-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcmis-dev

Remove libcmis-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libcmis-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcmis-dev

Remove libcmis-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcmis-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcmis-dev
