In this tutorial we learn how to install libciftools-java on Ubuntu.
What is libciftools-java
libciftools-java is:
CIFTools implements reading and writing of CIF files as well as their efficiently encoded counterpart, called BinaryCIF. The idea is to have a robust, type-safe implementation for the handling of CIF files which does not care about the origin of the data: both conventional text-based and binary files should be handled the same way.
There are three methods to install libciftools-java on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libciftools-java Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libciftools-java using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libciftools-java
Install libciftools-java Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libciftools-java using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libciftools-java
Install libciftools-java Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libciftools-java using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libciftools-java
How To Uninstall libciftools-java on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libciftools-java package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libciftools-java

To remove libciftools-java configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libciftools-java
