In this tutorial we learn how to install libcgal-qt5-dev on Ubuntu.

What is libcgal-qt5-dev

libcgal-qt5-dev is:

CGAL (Computational Geometry Algorithms Library) makes the most important of the solutions and methods developed in computational geometry available to users in industry and academia in a C++ library. The goal is to provide easy access to useful, reliable geometric algorithms.

This package contains the header files for visualization with Qt.

There are three methods to install libcgal-qt5-dev on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcgal-qt5-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcgal-qt5-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcgal-qt5-dev

Install libcgal-qt5-dev Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcgal-qt5-dev using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcgal-qt5-dev

Install libcgal-qt5-dev Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcgal-qt5-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcgal-qt5-dev

How To Uninstall libcgal-qt5-dev on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libcgal-qt5-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcgal-qt5-dev

Uninstall libcgal-qt5-dev And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcgal-qt5-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcgal-qt5-dev

Remove libcgal-qt5-dev Configurations and Data

To remove libcgal-qt5-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcgal-qt5-dev

Remove libcgal-qt5-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcgal-qt5-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcgal-qt5-dev
