How To Install libcdk-perl on Ubuntu

In this tutorial we learn how to install libcdk-perl on Ubuntu.

What is libcdk-perl

libcdk-perl is:

CDK stands for “Curses Development Kit”. CDK sits on top of the curses library and provides 22 ready to use widgets for rapid application development of text-based interfaces. CDK delivers many of the common widget types required for a robust interface. Widgets can be combined to create complex widgets if needed.

This package provides a Perl interface for the CDK library.

There are three methods to install libcdk-perl on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcdk-perl Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcdk-perl using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcdk-perl

Install libcdk-perl Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcdk-perl using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcdk-perl

Install libcdk-perl Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcdk-perl using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcdk-perl

How To Uninstall libcdk-perl on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libcdk-perl package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcdk-perl

Uninstall libcdk-perl And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcdk-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcdk-perl

Remove libcdk-perl Configurations and Data

To remove libcdk-perl configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcdk-perl

Remove libcdk-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcdk-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcdk-perl
