Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libcddb2 on Ubuntu.
What is libcddb2
libcddb2 is:
libcddb is a C library to access data about Audio CD on a CDDB server
It allows one to search the database for CD matches, get detailed information about a CD and submit new CD entries to the database. It supports both the custom CDDB protocol and the tunneling of the query over HTTP. HTTP Proxying is supported. It also features a cache system.
This package contains the runtime library required to run libcddb-enabled programs.
There are three methods to install libcddb2 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libcddb2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libcddb2 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libcddb2

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libcddb2 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libcddb2
Install libcddb2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libcddb2 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libcddb2

To uninstall only the libcddb2 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libcddb2

To remove libcddb2 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libcddb2
