Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libadns1 on Ubuntu.
What is libadns1
libadns1 is:
adns is a resolver library for C (and C++) programs. In contrast with the existing interfaces, gethostbyname et al and libresolv, it can be used in an asynchronous, non-blocking manner, and has a convenient interface which doesn’t require the application to handle any DNS data formats. Many queries can be handled simultaneously.
This package contains the runtime library.
There are three methods to install libadns1 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libadns1 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libadns1 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libadns1

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libadns1 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libadns1
Install libadns1 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libadns1 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libadns1
How To Uninstall libadns1 on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the libadns1 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libadns1
Uninstall libadns1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libadns1 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libadns1
Remove libadns1 Configurations and Data
To remove libadns1 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libadns1
