In this tutorial we learn how to install libaacs0 on Ubuntu.

What is libaacs0

libaacs0 is:

libaacs is a research project to implement the Advanced Access Content System specification. It provides, through an open-source library, a way to understand how the AACS works.

This package DOES NOT provide any key or certificate that could be used to decode encrypted copyrighted material. It is based on the official public AACS specification only.

This package provides the shared library.

There are three methods to install libaacs0 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libaacs0 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libaacs0 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libaacs0

Install libaacs0 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libaacs0 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libaacs0

Install libaacs0 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libaacs0 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libaacs0

How To Uninstall libaacs0 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the libaacs0 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libaacs0
