Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install kxgencert on Ubuntu.

What is kxgencert

kxgencert is:

kxd is a key exchange daemon, which serves blobs of data (keys) over https.

It can be used to get keys remotely instead of using local storage. The main use case is to get keys to open dm-crypt devices automatically, without having to store them on the local machine.

This package provides a certificate generator, for convenience when setting up the client and server.

There are three methods to install kxgencert on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install kxgencert Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install kxgencert using apt-get by running the following command:
