Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install kwave on Ubuntu.
What is kwave
kwave is:
Kwave is a sound editor designed for the KDE Desktop Environment.
With Kwave you can record, play back, import and edit many sorts of audio files including multi-channel files.
Kwave includes some plugins to transform audio files in several ways and presents a graphical view with a complete zoom- and scroll capability.
Its features include:
- 24 Bit Support
- Undo/Redo
- Use of multicore CPUs (SMP, hyperthreading)
- Simple Drag & Drop
- Realtime Pre-Listen for some effects

There are three methods to install kwave on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install kwave Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install kwave using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kwave
Install kwave Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install kwave using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kwave
Install kwave Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install kwave using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kwave
How To Uninstall kwave on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the kwave package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kwave
Uninstall kwave And Its Dependencies
To uninstall kwave and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove kwave
Remove kwave Configurations and Data
To remove kwave configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge kwave
