on Ubuntu.
What is ksmbd-tools
ksmbd-tools is:
This is an alternative implementation of the CIFS/SMB3 control utilities. The ksmbd part is focused on delivering speedy SMB3 file serving performance and also supporting features more implemented in kernel-space, like RDMA support for SMB Direct. KSMBD doesn’t aim to be as comprehensive as well known Samba for CIFS/SMB support in user-space but is just focused on the performance and kernel feature angle.
The tools can either be used with the kernel module built separately or right from in the Linux kernel.
There are three methods to install ksmbd-tools
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ksmbd-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ksmbd-tools
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ksmbd-tools
Install ksmbd-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ksmbd-tools
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ksmbd-tools
Install ksmbd-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ksmbd-tools
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ksmbd-tools
How To Uninstall ksmbd-tools on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the ksmbd-tools
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ksmbd-tools
Uninstall ksmbd-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ksmbd-tools
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ksmbd-tools
Remove ksmbd-tools Configurations and Data
To remove ksmbd-tools
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ksmbd-tools
Remove ksmbd-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ksmbd-tools
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ksmbd-tools
