Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install kissplice on Ubuntu.

What is kissplice

kissplice is:

KisSplice is a piece of software that enables the analysis of RNA-seq data with or without a reference genome. It is an exact local transcriptome assembler that allows one to identify SNPs, indels and alternative splicing events. It can deal with an arbitrary number of biological conditions, and will quantify each variant in each condition. It has been tested on Illumina datasets of up to 1G reads. Its memory consumption is around 5Gb for 100M reads.

There are three methods to install kissplice on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install kissplice Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install kissplice using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install kissplice

Install kissplice Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install kissplice using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install kissplice

Install kissplice Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install kissplice using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install kissplice

How To Uninstall kissplice on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the kissplice package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove kissplice

Uninstall kissplice And Its Dependencies

To uninstall kissplice and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove kissplice

Remove kissplice Configurations and Data

To remove kissplice configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge kissplice

Remove kissplice configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove kissplice configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge kissplice
