Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install khal-doc on Ubuntu.
What is khal-doc
khal-doc is:
Khal is a standards based CLI and terminal calendar program, able to synchronize with CalDAV servers through vdirsyncer.
Features:
- khal can read and write events/icalendars to vdir, so vdirsyncer can be used to synchronize calendars with a variety of other programs, for example CalDAV servers.
- fast and easy way to add new events
- ikhal (interactive khal) lets you browse and edit calendars and events

There are three methods to install khal-doc on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install khal-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install khal-doc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install khal-doc
Install khal-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install khal-doc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install khal-doc
Install khal-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install khal-doc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install khal-doc
How To Uninstall khal-doc on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the khal-doc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove khal-doc
Uninstall khal-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall khal-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove khal-doc
Remove khal-doc Configurations and Data
To remove khal-doc configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge khal-doc
Remove khal-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove khal-doc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge khal-doc
