Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install kerneltop on Ubuntu.

What is kerneltop

kerneltop is:

kerneltop shows Linux kernel function information usage (modules not included) like top do for process, and is derived from readprofile.

It needs profiling enabled on kernel at boot time.

There are three methods to install kerneltop on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install kerneltop Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install kerneltop using apt-get by running the following command:
