Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install kbibtex on Ubuntu.

What is kbibtex

kbibtex is:

An application to manage bibliography databases in the BibTeX format. KBibTeX can be used as a standalone program, but can also be embedded into other KDE applications (e.g. as bibliography editor into Kile).

KBibTeX can query online resources (e.g. Google scholar) via customizable search URLs. It is also able to import complete datasets from NCBI Pubmed. It also supports tagging references with keywords and manages references to local files.

BibTeX files can be exported into HTML, XML, PDF, PS and RTF format using a number of citation styles.

There are three methods to install kbibtex on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install kbibtex Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install kbibtex using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install kbibtex

Install kbibtex Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install kbibtex using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install kbibtex

Install kbibtex Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install kbibtex using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install kbibtex

How To Uninstall kbibtex on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the kbibtex package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove kbibtex

Uninstall kbibtex And Its Dependencies

To uninstall kbibtex and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove kbibtex

Remove kbibtex Configurations and Data

To remove kbibtex configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge kbibtex

Remove kbibtex configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove kbibtex configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge kbibtex
