In this tutorial we learn how to install junit4 on Ubuntu.

What is junit4

junit4 is:

JUnit is a simple framework to write repeatable tests. It is an instance of the xUnit architecture for unit testing frameworks.

JUnit 4 uses Java 5 features such as generics and annotations. If you need compatibility with previous Java versions, you should use the junit package (version 3) instead.

There are three methods to install junit4 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install junit4 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install junit4 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install junit4

Install junit4 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install junit4 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install junit4

Install junit4 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install junit4 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install junit4

How To Uninstall junit4 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the junit4 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove junit4

Uninstall junit4 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall junit4 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove junit4

Remove junit4 Configurations and Data

To remove junit4 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge junit4

Remove junit4 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove junit4 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge junit4
