In this tutorial we learn how to install jenkins-debian-glue on Ubuntu.

What is jenkins-debian-glue

jenkins-debian-glue is:

This package provides scripts which make building Debian packages inside Jenkins (a Continuous Integration suite) easier.

It’s meant to make Q/A builds of Debian packages inside Jenkins as manageable and homogeneous as possible.

You need to install the according packaging tools, depending on your VCS type and the features you want to use. To get all tools you can just install the jenkins-debian-glue-buildenv package.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo apt-get -y purge jenkins-debian-glue
