In this tutorial we learn how to install jaxws on Ubuntu.
What is jaxws
jaxws is:
The Java API for XML-Based Web Services (JAX-WS) provides the API implementation for creating web services, particularly SOAP services.
The JAX-WS Reference Implementation (JSR-224) provides the actual implementation behind the javax.xml.ws.* packages which were integrated to the JRE since Java 6 and were eventually removed in Java 11.
This package contains the wsgen and wsimport command line tools.
There are three methods to install jaxws on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install jaxws Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install jaxws using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install jaxws
Install jaxws Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install jaxws using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install jaxws
Install jaxws Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install jaxws using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install jaxws
How To Uninstall jaxws on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the jaxws package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove jaxws
Uninstall jaxws And Its Dependencies
To uninstall jaxws and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove jaxws
Remove jaxws Configurations and Data
To remove jaxws configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge jaxws
Remove jaxws configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove jaxws configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge jaxws
