How To Install hime on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install hime on Ubuntu.

What is hime

hime is:

HIME Input Method Editor is a input method platform, which is forked from the famous gcin input method.

To use HIME, the correspondence immodule packages also need to be installed. They are:

• hime-gtk2-immodule for GTK2
• hime-gtk3-immodule for GTK3
• hime-qt5-immodule for Qt5

There are three methods to install hime on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install hime Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install hime using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install hime

Install hime Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install hime using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install hime

Install hime Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install hime using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install hime

How To Uninstall hime on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the hime package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove hime

Uninstall hime And Its Dependencies

To uninstall hime and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove hime

Remove hime Configurations and Data

To remove hime configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge hime

Remove hime configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove hime configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge hime
