What is gzip-win32

gzip-win32 is:

This package provides the standard GNU file compression utilities, which are also the default compression tools for Debian. They typically operate on files with names ending in ‘.gz’, but can also decompress files ending in ‘.Z’ created with ‘compress’.

This is a win32 version of gzip, meant to be used by the win32-loader component of Debian-Installer.

There are three methods to install gzip-win32 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gzip-win32 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gzip-win32 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gzip-win32

Install gzip-win32 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gzip-win32 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gzip-win32

Install gzip-win32 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gzip-win32 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gzip-win32

How To Uninstall gzip-win32 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the gzip-win32 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gzip-win32

Uninstall gzip-win32 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gzip-win32 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gzip-win32

Remove gzip-win32 Configurations and Data

To remove gzip-win32 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gzip-win32

Remove gzip-win32 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gzip-win32 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gzip-win32
