Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gvfs-daemons
on Ubuntu.
What is gvfs-daemons
gvfs-daemons is:
gvfs is a userspace virtual filesystem where mounts run as separate processes which you talk to via D-Bus. It also contains a gio module that seamlessly adds gvfs support to all applications using the gio API. It also supports exposing the gvfs mounts to non-gio applications using fuse.
This package contains the gvfs server and the minimal set of backends.
There are three methods to install gvfs-daemons
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gvfs-daemons Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gvfs-daemons
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gvfs-daemons
Install gvfs-daemons Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gvfs-daemons
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gvfs-daemons
Install gvfs-daemons Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gvfs-daemons
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gvfs-daemons
How To Uninstall gvfs-daemons on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the gvfs-daemons
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gvfs-daemons
Uninstall gvfs-daemons And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gvfs-daemons
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gvfs-daemons
Remove gvfs-daemons Configurations and Data
To remove gvfs-daemons
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gvfs-daemons
Remove gvfs-daemons configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gvfs-daemons
