In this tutorial we learn how to install gtk-update-icon-cache on Ubuntu.
What is gtk-update-icon-cache
gtk-update-icon-cache is:
gtk-update-icon-cache creates mmap()able cache files for icon themes.
GTK can use the cache files created by gtk-update-icon-cache to avoid a lot of system call and disk seek overhead when the application starts. Since the format of the cache files allows them to be mmap()ed shared between multiple applications, the overall memory consumption is reduced as well.
There are three methods to install gtk-update-icon-cache on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gtk-update-icon-cache Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
