Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install golang-rice on Ubuntu.

What is golang-rice

golang-rice is:

go.rice is a Golang package that makes working with resources such as html, js, css, images and templates very easy. During development go.rice will load required files directly from disk. Upon deployment it is easy to add all resource files to a executable using the rice tool, without changing the source code for your package. Several methods are provided for adding resources to your binary by go.rice.

This package contains the command-line tool.

There are three methods to install golang-rice on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install golang-rice Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install golang-rice using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install golang-rice

Install golang-rice Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install golang-rice using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install golang-rice

Install golang-rice Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install golang-rice using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install golang-rice

How To Uninstall golang-rice on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the golang-rice package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove golang-rice

Uninstall golang-rice And Its Dependencies

To uninstall golang-rice and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove golang-rice

Remove golang-rice Configurations and Data

To remove golang-rice configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge golang-rice

Remove golang-rice configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove golang-rice configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge golang-rice
