In this tutorial we learn how to install gnustep-back-common
on Ubuntu.
What is gnustep-back-common
gnustep-back-common is:
It is a backend component for the GNUstep GUI Library. The implementation of the GNUstep GUI Library is designed in two parts. The first part is the front-end component which is independent of platform and display system. This front-end is combined with a back-end component which handles all of the display system dependent such as specific calls to the X Window System.
This package contains the common files needed by the GNUstep GUI Backend.
There are three methods to install gnustep-back-common
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gnustep-back-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gnustep-back-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gnustep-back-common
Install gnustep-back-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gnustep-back-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gnustep-back-common
Install gnustep-back-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gnustep-back-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gnustep-back-common
