Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install gm-assistant on Ubuntu.

What is `gm-assistant`

gm-assistant is:

GM-Assistant is designed to be the perfect assistant for the Game Master during tabletop role-playing games.

GM-Assistant enables to build structured scenarii with history and character table before the game, and to take notes, play music or sound effects, and display pictures during the game. It also includes a dice simulator and a combat manager.

There are three methods to install gm-assistant on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gm-assistant Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gm-assistant using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gm-assistant

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gm-assistant using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
