Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 on Ubuntu.

What is g++-mingw-w64-x86-64

g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 is:

MinGW-w64 provides a development and runtime environment for 32- and 64-bit (x86 and x64) Windows applications using the Windows API and the GNU Compiler Collection (gcc).

This metapackage provides the C++ compiler, supporting cross-compiling to 64-bit MinGW-w64 targets.

There are three methods to install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64

Install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64

Install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install g++-mingw-w64-x86-64

How To Uninstall g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove g++-mingw-w64-x86-64

Uninstall g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove g++-mingw-w64-x86-64

Remove g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 Configurations and Data

To remove g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge g++-mingw-w64-x86-64

Remove g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove g++-mingw-w64-x86-64 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge g++-mingw-w64-x86-64
