Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install frobby on Ubuntu.
What is frobby
frobby is:
Frobby is a software system and project for computations with monomial ideals. Frobby is free software and it is intended as a vehicle for computational and mathematical research on monomial ideals.
The current functionality includes Euler characteristic, Hilbert series, maximal standard monomials, combinatorial optimization on monomial ideals, primary decomposition, irreducible decomposition, Alexander dual, associated primes, minimization and intersection of monomial ideals as well as the computation of Frobenius problems (using 4ti2) with very mmlarge numbers. Frobby is also able to translate between formats that can be used with several different computer systems, such as Macaulay 2, Monos, 4ti2, CoCoA4 and Singular. Thus Frobby can be used with any of those systems.
There are three methods to install frobby on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install frobby Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install frobby using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install frobby
Install frobby Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install frobby using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install frobby
Install frobby Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install frobby using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install frobby
How To Uninstall frobby on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the frobby package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove frobby
Uninstall frobby And Its Dependencies
To uninstall frobby and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove frobby
Remove frobby Configurations and Data
To remove frobby configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge frobby
Remove frobby configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove frobby configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge frobby
Dependencies
frobby have the following dependencies:
