What is fonts-roboto
fonts-roboto is:
Roboto is Google’s signature family of fonts, the default font in Android and ChromeOS and the recommended font for Google’s visual language, Material Design.
Roboto supports all Latin, Cyrillic, and Greek characters in Unicode 7.0 as well as currency symbol for the Georgian lari, to be published in Unicode 8.0.
There are three methods to install fonts-roboto on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fonts-roboto Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-roboto using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fonts-roboto
Install fonts-roboto Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-roboto using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fonts-roboto
Install fonts-roboto Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-roboto using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fonts-roboto
How To Uninstall fonts-roboto on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the fonts-roboto package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fonts-roboto
Uninstall fonts-roboto And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fonts-roboto and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fonts-roboto
Remove fonts-roboto Configurations and Data
To remove fonts-roboto configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fonts-roboto
Remove fonts-roboto configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fonts-roboto configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fonts-roboto
