In this tutorial we learn how to install fcitx-table-latex on Ubuntu.
What is fcitx-table-latex
fcitx-table-latex is:
Fcitx is a input method framework with extension support, which provides an interface for entering characters of different scripts in applications using a variety of mapping systems.
It offers a pleasant and modern experience, with intuitive graphical configuration tools and customizable skins and mapping tables. It is highly modularized and extensible, with GTK+ 2/3 and Qt4 IM Modules, support for UIs based on Fbterm, pure Xlib, GTK+, or KDE, and a developer-friendly API.
This package provides LaTeX table used by the Fcitx table engine.
There are three methods to install fcitx-table-latex on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install fcitx-table-latex Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fcitx-table-latex using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install fcitx-table-latex
Install fcitx-table-latex Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install fcitx-table-latex using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install fcitx-table-latex
Install fcitx-table-latex Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fcitx-table-latex using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fcitx-table-latex
How To Uninstall fcitx-table-latex on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the fcitx-table-latex package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fcitx-table-latex
Uninstall fcitx-table-latex And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fcitx-table-latex and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fcitx-table-latex
Remove fcitx-table-latex Configurations and Data
To remove fcitx-table-latex configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fcitx-table-latex
Remove fcitx-table-latex configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove fcitx-table-latex configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fcitx-table-latex
