Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install faac on Ubuntu.
What is faac
faac is:
The FAAC project includes the AAC encoder FAAC and decoder FAAD2. It supports several MPEG-4 object types (LC, Main, LTP, HE AAC, PS) and file formats (ADTS AAC, raw AAC, MP4), multichannel and gapless en/decoding as well as MP4 metadata tags. The codecs are compatible with standard-compliant audio applications using one or more of these profiles.
This package contains the frontend.
There are three methods to install faac on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install faac Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install faac using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install faac
Install faac Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install faac using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install faac
Install faac Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install faac using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install faac
How To Uninstall faac on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the faac package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove faac
Uninstall faac And Its Dependencies
To uninstall faac and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove faac
Remove faac Configurations and Data
To remove faac configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge faac
