In this tutorial we learn how to install enscript on Ubuntu.
What is enscript
enscript is:
GNU Enscript takes ASCII files (often source code) and converts them to PostScript, HTML or RTF. It can store generated output to a file or send it directly to the printer.
It is often used for its syntax highlighting, as it comes with rules for a wide range of programming languages. New rules can be added using an awk-like stateful scripting language.
There are three methods to install enscript on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install enscript Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install enscript using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install enscript

After updating apt database, We can install enscript using apt by running the following command:

How To Uninstall enscript on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the enscript package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove enscript

To uninstall enscript and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove enscript
Remove enscript Configurations and Data
To remove enscript configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge enscript
