Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ember on Ubuntu.
What is ember
ember is:
Ember is a 3D client framework for WorldForge. It’s not meant to be a standalone game, instead its purpose is to provide a solid and extensible base from which to build game-specific clients. One of the goals of Ember is to allow for easy customization of the codebase. Currently it supports the game world of Mason.
This is a transitional package that installs the Ember snap package.
There are three methods to install ember on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ember Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ember using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ember
Install ember Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ember using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ember
Install ember Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ember using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ember
How To Uninstall ember on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the ember package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ember
Uninstall ember And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ember and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ember
Remove ember Configurations and Data
To remove ember configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ember
Remove ember configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ember configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ember
