What is ebumeter
ebumeter is:
These tools help controlling loudness of audio material aimed primarily for broadcasting, but they can be useful in other situation.
ebumeter and ebur128 allow users to measure Momentary (400 ms), Short term (3s) and Integrated Loudness (from start to stop). They can be used on audio files and signals through JACK.
This package contains two programs:
- ebumeter - interactive meter working via jackd
- ebur128 - the command line app to measure sound files
There are three methods to install ebumeter on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ebumeter Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ebumeter using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ebumeter
Install ebumeter Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ebumeter using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ebumeter
Install ebumeter Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ebumeter using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ebumeter
How To Uninstall ebumeter on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the ebumeter package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ebumeter
Uninstall ebumeter And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ebumeter and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ebumeter
Remove ebumeter Configurations and Data
To remove ebumeter configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ebumeter
