Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install dustmite on Ubuntu.

What is dustmite

dustmite is:

DustMite is a tool for minimizing D source code. It was inspired by Tigris Delta and a thread on digitalmars.D.learn. Reducing C++ code also works quite well via –split *.{c,cpp,h,hpp}:d.

DustMite will parse the source code into a simple hierarchy, and attempt to shrink it by deleting fragments iteratively, as long as the result satisfies a user-specified condition.

There are three methods to install dustmite on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dustmite Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dustmite using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dustmite

Install dustmite Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dustmite using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dustmite

Install dustmite Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dustmite using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dustmite

How To Uninstall dustmite on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the dustmite package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dustmite

Uninstall dustmite And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dustmite and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dustmite

Remove dustmite Configurations and Data

To remove dustmite configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dustmite

Remove dustmite configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove dustmite configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dustmite
