In this tutorial we learn how to install docbook-mathml on Ubuntu.

What is docbook-mathml

docbook-mathml is:

The DocBook MathML module adds support for including MathML markup in DocBook XML source documents.

The MathML module is a customization of the full DocBook XML V4.1.2 DTD. The module requires access to the MathML V2.0 DTD provided by the w3-dtd-mathml package.

There are three methods to install docbook-mathml on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install docbook-mathml Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install docbook-mathml using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install docbook-mathml

Install docbook-mathml Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install docbook-mathml using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install docbook-mathml

Install docbook-mathml Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install docbook-mathml using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install docbook-mathml

How To Uninstall docbook-mathml on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the docbook-mathml package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove docbook-mathml

Uninstall docbook-mathml And Its Dependencies

To uninstall docbook-mathml and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove docbook-mathml

Remove docbook-mathml Configurations and Data

To remove docbook-mathml configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge docbook-mathml

Remove docbook-mathml configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove docbook-mathml configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge docbook-mathml
