In this tutorial we learn how to install dict-elements on Ubuntu.

What is dict-elements

dict-elements is:

This package contains Jay Kominek’s jkominek@miranda.org compilation of physical and chemical data about the elements, updated 11/07/00 formatted for use by the dictionary server in the dictd package.

This package will be of limited use without the client and server found in the dict and dictd packages.

There are three methods to install dict-elements on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dict-elements Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dict-elements using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dict-elements

Install dict-elements Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dict-elements using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dict-elements

Install dict-elements Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dict-elements using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dict-elements

How To Uninstall dict-elements on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the dict-elements package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dict-elements

Uninstall dict-elements And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dict-elements and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dict-elements

Remove dict-elements Configurations and Data

To remove dict-elements configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dict-elements

Remove dict-elements configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove dict-elements configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dict-elements
