Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dh-python on Ubuntu.
What is dh-python
dh-python is:
This package contains:
- pybuild - invokes various build systems for requested Python versions in order to build modules and extensions
- dh_python2 - calculates Python 2.X dependencies for Debian packages, adds maintainer scripts to byte compile files, etc.
- dh_python3 - calculates Python 3.X dependencies for Debian packages, adds maintainer scripts to byte compile files, etc.
- dh_pypy - calculates PyPy dependencies for Debian packages, adds maintainer scripts to byte compile files, etc.
There are three methods to install dh-python on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dh-python Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dh-python using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dh-python

After updating apt database, We can install dh-python using apt by running the following command:

To uninstall only the dh-python package we can use the following command:
