Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install dh-autoreconf
on Ubuntu.
What is dh-autoreconf
dh-autoreconf is:
dh-autoreconf provides a debhelper sequence addon named ‘autoreconf’ and two commands, dh_autoreconf and dh_autoreconf_clean.
The dh_autoreconf command creates a list of the files and their checksums, calls autoreconf and then creates a second list for the new files.
The dh_autoreconf_clean command compares these two lists and removes all files which have been added or changed (files may be excluded if needed).
For CDBS users, a rule is provided to call the dh-autoreconf programs at the right time.
There are three methods to install dh-autoreconf
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install dh-autoreconf Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install dh-autoreconf
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install dh-autoreconf
Install dh-autoreconf Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install dh-autoreconf
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install dh-autoreconf
Install dh-autoreconf Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install dh-autoreconf
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install dh-autoreconf
How To Uninstall dh-autoreconf on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the dh-autoreconf
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove dh-autoreconf
Uninstall dh-autoreconf And Its Dependencies
To uninstall dh-autoreconf
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove dh-autoreconf
Remove dh-autoreconf Configurations and Data
To remove dh-autoreconf
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge dh-autoreconf
Remove dh-autoreconf configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove dh-autoreconf
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dh-autoreconf
