In this tutorial we learn how to install devhelp on Ubuntu.
What is devhelp
devhelp is:
Devhelp’s primary goal is to be an API documentation browser for GNOME. It is able to scan for .devhelp files generated automatically for packages that use gtk-doc-tools to generate documentation for libraries and programs.
Devhelp provides some integration capabilities, which is used to allow command-line searches, emacs integration and embedding in applications like the Anjuta IDE.
There are three methods to install devhelp on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install devhelp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install devhelp using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install devhelp

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install devhelp using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install devhelp
Install devhelp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
