In this tutorial we learn how to install debian-lan-config on Ubuntu.

What is debian-lan-config

debian-lan-config is:

The Debian-LAN (Debian Local Area Network) project makes running Debian in a local area network easy without losing flexibility. It may be used by schools, work groups, associations and small enterprises or to install complex test environments.

Debian-LAN uses FAI (Fully Automatic Installation) to install and configure all machines in the network.

This package contains the FAI config space.

There are three methods to install debian-lan-config on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install debian-lan-config Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install debian-lan-config using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install debian-lan-config

Install debian-lan-config Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install debian-lan-config using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install debian-lan-config

Install debian-lan-config Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install debian-lan-config using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install debian-lan-config

How To Uninstall debian-lan-config on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the debian-lan-config package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove debian-lan-config

Uninstall debian-lan-config And Its Dependencies

To uninstall debian-lan-config and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove debian-lan-config

Remove debian-lan-config Configurations and Data

To remove debian-lan-config configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge debian-lan-config

Remove debian-lan-config configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove debian-lan-config configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge debian-lan-config
