Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install dbus-tests on Ubuntu.

What is dbus-tests

dbus-tests is:

D-Bus is a message bus, used for sending messages between applications. Conceptually, it fits somewhere in between raw sockets and CORBA in terms of complexity.

This package provides automated and manual tests for D-Bus, and the dbus-test-tool utility. It also provides copies of the D-Bus libraries and executables compiled with extra debug information and logging.

There are three methods to install dbus-tests on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install dbus-tests Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install dbus-tests using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install dbus-tests

Install dbus-tests Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install dbus-tests using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install dbus-tests

Install dbus-tests Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install dbus-tests using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install dbus-tests

How To Uninstall dbus-tests on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the dbus-tests package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove dbus-tests

Uninstall dbus-tests And Its Dependencies

To uninstall dbus-tests and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove dbus-tests

Remove dbus-tests Configurations and Data

To remove dbus-tests configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge dbus-tests

Remove dbus-tests configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove dbus-tests configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge dbus-tests
