In this tutorial we learn how to install closure-compiler on Ubuntu.
What is closure-compiler
closure-compiler is:
Closure Compiler is a JavaScript optimizing compiler. It parses your JavaScript, analyzes it, removes dead code and rewrites and minimizes what’s left. It also checks syntax, variable references, and types, and warns about common JavaScript pitfalls. It is used in many of Google’s JavaScript apps, including Gmail, Google Web Search, Google Maps, and Google Docs.
This package contains the /usr/bin wrapper script and manpage.
There are three methods to install closure-compiler on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install closure-compiler Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install closure-compiler using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install closure-compiler
Install closure-compiler Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install closure-compiler using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install closure-compiler
Install closure-compiler Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install closure-compiler using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install closure-compiler
How To Uninstall closure-compiler on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the closure-compiler package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove closure-compiler
Uninstall closure-compiler And Its Dependencies
To uninstall closure-compiler and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove closure-compiler
Remove closure-compiler Configurations and Data
To remove closure-compiler configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge closure-compiler

We can use the following command to remove closure-compiler configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
