How To Install cinder-api on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install cinder-api on Ubuntu.

What is cinder-api

cinder-api is:

OpenStack is a reliable cloud infrastructure. Its mission is to produce the ubiquitous cloud computing platform that will meet the needs of public and private cloud providers regardless of size, by being simple to implement and massively scalable.

Cinder is the OpenStack Block storage service.

This package contains the Cinder API server.

There are three methods to install cinder-api on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install cinder-api Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install cinder-api using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install cinder-api

Install cinder-api Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install cinder-api using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install cinder-api

Install cinder-api Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install cinder-api using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install cinder-api

How To Uninstall cinder-api on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the cinder-api package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove cinder-api

Uninstall cinder-api And Its Dependencies

To uninstall cinder-api and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove cinder-api

Remove cinder-api Configurations and Data

To remove cinder-api configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge cinder-api

Remove cinder-api configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove cinder-api configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cinder-api
