In this tutorial we learn how to install cgroup-lite
on Ubuntu.
What is cgroup-lite
cgroup-lite is:
Control groups are a kernel mechanism for tracking and imposing limits on resource usage on groups of task.
This package installs an upstart job to set up cgroups when the system boots, without doing any cgroup management or doing any classification of tasks into cgroups.
There are three methods to install cgroup-lite
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install cgroup-lite Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install cgroup-lite
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install cgroup-lite
Install cgroup-lite Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install cgroup-lite
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install cgroup-lite
Install cgroup-lite Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install cgroup-lite
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install cgroup-lite
How To Uninstall cgroup-lite on Ubuntu
To uninstall only the cgroup-lite
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove cgroup-lite
Uninstall cgroup-lite And Its Dependencies
To uninstall cgroup-lite
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove cgroup-lite
Remove cgroup-lite Configurations and Data
To remove cgroup-lite
configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge cgroup-lite
Remove cgroup-lite configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove cgroup-lite
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge cgroup-lite
