How To Install ceph-mgr-cephadm on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install ceph-mgr-cephadm on Ubuntu.

What is ceph-mgr-cephadm

ceph-mgr-cephadm is:

Ceph is a massively scalable, open-source, distributed storage system that runs on commodity hardware and delivers object, block and file system storage.

This package contains the CEPHADM module for ceph-mgr’s orchestration functionality, to allow ceph-mgr to perform orchestration functions over a standard SSH connection.

There are three methods to install ceph-mgr-cephadm on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ceph-mgr-cephadm Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ceph-mgr-cephadm using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ceph-mgr-cephadm

Install ceph-mgr-cephadm Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ceph-mgr-cephadm using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ceph-mgr-cephadm

Install ceph-mgr-cephadm Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ceph-mgr-cephadm using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ceph-mgr-cephadm

How To Uninstall ceph-mgr-cephadm on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the ceph-mgr-cephadm package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ceph-mgr-cephadm

Uninstall ceph-mgr-cephadm And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ceph-mgr-cephadm and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ceph-mgr-cephadm

Remove ceph-mgr-cephadm Configurations and Data

To remove ceph-mgr-cephadm configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ceph-mgr-cephadm

Remove ceph-mgr-cephadm configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ceph-mgr-cephadm configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ceph-mgr-cephadm
