How To Install ccbuild on Ubuntu

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install ccbuild on Ubuntu.

What is ccbuild

ccbuild is:

Scan the source for main functions and includes. When the file contains a main function it will compile all the files next to that file’s includes and link them into a program.

This makes it possible to build entire programs with minimal configuration. Linker and compiler options can be added and will be automatically divided over the compiler and linker.

There are three methods to install ccbuild on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install ccbuild Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install ccbuild using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install ccbuild

Install ccbuild Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install ccbuild using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install ccbuild

Install ccbuild Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install ccbuild using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install ccbuild

How To Uninstall ccbuild on Ubuntu

To uninstall only the ccbuild package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove ccbuild

Uninstall ccbuild And Its Dependencies

To uninstall ccbuild and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove ccbuild

Remove ccbuild Configurations and Data

To remove ccbuild configuration and data from Ubuntu we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge ccbuild

Remove ccbuild configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove ccbuild configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ccbuild
