In this tutorial we learn how to install cantata on Ubuntu.

What is cantata

cantata is:

Cantata is a graphical front-end for the music player daemon, MPD. It provides many tools to view and manage the music collection including:

• library - sorted by album, artist, track, directory
• albums with cover art
• user defined playlists
• dynamic playlists
• streams, internet radio
• lyrics
• artist information from Wikipedia
• device support for USB mass storage, MTP and CDs

There are three methods to install cantata on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install cantata Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install cantata using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install cantata

Install cantata Using apt
