In this tutorial we learn how to install calc-common
on Ubuntu.
What is calc-common
calc-common is:
Calc is an arbitrary precision arithmetic system that uses a C-like language. Calc is useful as a calculator, an algorithm prototyper and as a mathematical research tool. More importantly, calc provides one with a machine independent means of computation. Calc comes with a rich set of builtin mathematical and programmatic functions.
This package contains architecture independent files required by the main package `calc'.
There are three methods to install calc-common
on Ubuntu. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install calc-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install calc-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install calc-common

using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install calc-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install calc-common
Install calc-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
